Inspired by Books - An Immersive Visual Arts Experience

‘Inspired by books - A visual arts project by Katie Squires’ is a celebration of art and books and how we imagine scenes from the books we are reading. Katie has been creating art inspired by her favourite novels written by Scottish authors or authors based in Scotland. Using different media, including printmaking, Katie has created a range of work to come together for a unique exhibition that is both immersive and multi sensory. This re-imagines the experience of getting ‘lost in a good story’. The art for the exhibition is inspired by books written by JD Kirk, Peter May, Ian Rankin, Neil Lancaster, Val McDermid, Ann Cleeves and Christopher Brookmyre.

An exhibit with two large rusted corrugated metal sheets with spray-painted red text that reads 'HATER' and 'MISTER' on the left and 'Y' and 'LOGAN' and 'THOPER' on the right, separated by a black curtain. There is yellow crime scene tape across the front. On the floor, there are stuffed animals and crumpled paper. A green and white emergency exit sign is above, and a framed artwork is between the metal sheets. To the right, there is a music stand with an open book.
